The PC-8801 has always been very close to the MSX computer system. Many popular games on MSX were released on PC-8801 as well (Hideo Kojima's Snatcher for instance). On infoseek, we can have a look at three new portable devices, the NEC PC-8801mkII, the NEC PC-6601SP and the NEC PC-6001Crystal, which look strikingly similar to already existing Gameboy Advance SP and Wonderswan devices (hint). All three are mini-sized computers, approaching what a one-chip-MSX might look like in the future.

Are you sure these are not fake?
The -SP versions look like a Gameboy Advance SP, and the -Crystal version looks like a SwanCrystal (Wonderswan).
Also, the keys look far too small to actually use...

Anyway, these designs come indeed very close to how I imagine the new MSX to look like.

It's definitely fake. Check out: http://macots.hp.infoseek.co.jp/pc88/report/001.jpg
In the bottom-left corner you can still see the GBA SP product code (AGS-001).

ok, enough fooling around ^_^ Gave a big hint in the news post now. However, I think the one-chip MSX is heading towards 'something like this'
