BARGAIN 14.10

A new version of BARGAIN, an image (de)compression toolkit for all MSX screen modes has been released. Most notable change in this version is an important bugfix. The bug caused corrupted compression in SCREEN 5 and SCREEN 6.

KATSU: I still would like to add this compression method to Polka2. Would you be willing to assist with that when the time comes?
Also, in that case I want to make it for screen areas (of 16x16 blocks if needed) instead of full screens. Is this change easy to do?

I'm afraid I would not be able to become your good help because I do not understand English well.

I'm sure that any language problems can be overcome.

However, it may be enough to have a translated version of the asm file. Combined with the diagram on the website I should be able to start. Unfortunately, my attempts at translating the asm file seem to destroy the layout quite badly and I haven't dared to make sense of it yet.

KATSU: I fully agree with Edwin, language is no problem nowadays with web based translators or any other Japanese user could give us a hand. Who knows maybe BARGAIN compression method could become a reference in near future. I think your hard work along this more than 20 years deserves this opportunity.

I really like BARGAIN, the best graphics compressor!!!
I have some requests for the future:
- libraries for other computer languages like C and Pascal;
- increase loading speed expecially for the screen 5 images, I'd like to load on the fly graphics from SD cards to hidden pages, with the 1chipMSX.
Are these requests possible?

I think it is impossible.
However, someone can be likely to produce a new method referring to this algorithm.
