The French website MSX Café has published an MSX utility of over 20 years old, made by French MSX users Patrice Auffret, Frédéric Hartard and Henri Frere. This program from 1987 converts given text to French speech using the Philips Music module. It reproduces words using 30 phonemes, and the result can afterwards be used in BASIC!

Nice one! I remember toying around with a very decent speech synth for the C64 long long time ago and have always wondered why the MSX stayed behind on this. Of course, in the Netherlands we did have "Zeg het maar" for the turboR Smile

Although the French article on MSX Cafe says it doesn't run in emulators, I think it runs fine on them. At least on openMSX where I tried, but I guess also on blueMSX.
