More than a year ago Iwein van Caelenberg suddenly stopped hosting the msx2.com domain and all the websites that were hosting on his webserver. Ever since then the MSX software created by the Finnish MSX developer Nyyrikki have been hard to find on the internet. As of today all the MSX software Nyyrikki had published on his website are available in the MRC downloads database. The following 30 MSX games, demo's and tools were added:

The MRC downloads section now contains over 500 freeware MSX downloads. If you know or have created some great MSX freeware (or public domain) games, demo's, utilities, music or graphics don't hesitate to send them over to downloads@msx.org (or add them over here) to list them in the largest legal MSX archive in the world. Happy downloading!

Note that Iwein didn't "suddenly stop" hosting out of free will - his server computer broke down beyond repair.

Btw, yeah, nice to have Nyyrikki's stuff back again.

Regardless of what caused it, the hosting stopped, and was suddenly. Wink
Seriously though, he could've continued the hosting. IIRC there were a lot of offers from people to help out with new hardware, etc...

I always have liked Nyyrikki's software. They have a strange creative touch. It's often different from regular software. Don't know how to explain it better.

Not only was Iwein's server the reason to stop with msx2.com, I heard he also wanted his bandwidth back.

I can imagine that! the server was on a 16kB/s (upstream) line, IIRC...

I'm very impressed with the 'Textured Box demo' (which also can be seen in a perhaps more impressive way in the AltParty'98 demo). Well worth having a look at. And, indeed, like Latok said. Nyyrikki demo's tend to have something 'different'.

I tried the Altparty98 megademo, but it immediately gives a Syntax Error in 10 here Sad

Hmm.. This demo is for MSX tR only. It was meant, that start of the demo would run on MSX2, but when I made a general version, that works without Novaxis SCSI, I accidently broke this compatibility. Try to replace end of line 10 with KEY1,CHR$(201):KEY2,CHR$(201) that should do the trick for MSX2. :-)

The texture mapped box is just ripped away from the demo so, that I was able to test it on 7MHz MSX2. It was not actually ment to be uploaded. :-)

Either way, perhaps Latok should try the demo on a turboR or turboR emulator, as it is turboR + DOS2 only Tongue

About the box... Maybe you could change the turboR in description to MSX2...
