One of the 11 contributions to the Under Water Challenge was the MSX1 game 'Pengu Racer', which was completely coded in BASIC. As of now, an improved version of this game is available here. Just in case you were wondering, the jury of the Under Water Challenge will only look at the version that was sent in before the deadline.

Could not be the title a bit confussing? I mean that last december, Alfonso D.C. entered to MSXdev'03 competition with a bet game called PENGUIN RACE. It is almost the same name. If you haven't seen it, take a look at it in http://www.robsy.net/prace.htm . This was programmed in pure assembler.

Anyway, congratulations for your game. It is amazing the level that you can get using BASIC. Please go on programming games for the MSX1 community!

Kind regards,

Ed Robsy

Dude, don't be an asshole. The name is more than 25% different!

For someone who takes a dump with copyrights so easily on your own products, you make a lot of complaints about other people's hard work!! (this is not the first time you do it)

And mentioning MSXdev'0x on nearly EVERY Challenge post is getting really old, and it's really childish.

You really need to grow up...

Man: I miss the time when you were banned from MSX.ORG. It was so calm that I got used to easily.

Again, thank you for your kind words. I will try to remember all your peaceful opinions before going on expressing my opinions. I should agree always: you are right and I am not.

After the MSX-in-one-chip I hope to see the next nanotecnology release: it will be really helpful for people like you: portable psychiatrist aid.

Dear moderators: I am absolutely fed up of all this.

Oh, your opinion is fine but mine is not?

Maybe I should complain about the "MSXdev'03" and "MSXdev'04" name, because NOTHING was called 'msxdev' until I and some others started the #msxdev IRC channel.
DUUUUUDE, THIS IS CONF000SING!

Patriek: simply BOTH are opinions and they should be respected. When you call somebody "dumb", "asshole", "gay" then you are not respecting neither the person nor his opinions. Let the others defend their point of view without smashing them, right?

About being "childish" I must admit that this is a problem that affects the whole MSX community. If not, how can you explain the fact that we are all still playing videogames that we played when we were 8 years old?

Again, Patriek, say whatever you want to say, because this is an open platform, but try to be more polite. Or is beligerance the main characteristic of the MSX community?

And if you do not agree with all this, then please ignore me. Thank you in advance.

"If not, how can you explain the fact that we are all still playing videogames that we played when we were 8 years old?"
Coz most of todays games suck, but I do play them too.

You can't bullshit your way out of this one...

"Or is beligerance the main characteristic of the MSX community?"

From your resume: "English: fluent, written and spoken (equivalent to London Chamber Level III)."

I suppose you meant 'belligerence'?

And the last thing I will say: I already apologized to you for earlier name-calling. If you want to keep bringing up those old issues, that's fine, but it doesn't make you seem very mature.

You still program for a system we used to play with when we were 8 years old.

Five consecutive reactions to my last comment is a sign of maturity? I do agree then: we do not share the same point of view neither about MSX nor about most things in life.

He IS right about you mentioning MSXDev '04 on every post, you know... It is getting pretty predictable.

And for what it's worth, I think you should be the last one to ask someone to change their game because there is already another with a similar name (or game concept, for that matter). You certainly don't honor such requests yourself.

We've had some bad experiences with you in the past concerning exactly this subject (and still have, frankly), so don't expect us to act nice towards you, or pretend it didn't happen.

I have never asked the author to change the title: it was just a remark about the similar name. I enjoy every single MSX game that appears, specially if it is freeware.

You asked me to stop my project and I decided to go on with it. That was all the problem. And I published freely a game for MSX that you were intending to sell for MSX2. So, everything is just a matter of money.
