Ricardo Bittencourt has just released a port of a Colecovision version of Space Invaders, which is very close to the original Arcade version which had the early gamingworld in its grasp for a long time. The Colecovision port, Space Invaders collection, was created by Eduardo Mello of Opcode Games.

Together with the game, Ricardo has released an SDK for porting Colecovision games to MSX. You can get both on this website.

I wanted to thanks Eduardo Mello of Opcode Games for the original port... All the hard work was done by him, porting Coleco to MSX was really easy compared to the work he made with the original arcade.

Congratulations, Ric!. A lot of new MSX games!. The only thing I miss in your cool port of Space Invaders is a different format, just to load the game from tape in every MSX in the world even without diskette (nearly all MSX1s) -that's why I prefer .ROM or .BIN Smile-

Any way, congrats again, and keep working like this! Smile

Didn't think about tape-only systems before. Rambo Plus, Girl's Garden and N-Sub are dos programs also. However, I don't use bdos at all, so in theory a tape loader for .com files can be written. Just enable 64kb of ram, load the game at 100h and start executing from there.

Hey, Ricardo, why don't you write some more lines about it? Smile, I can't wait to load your ports in my little HB10P!!!. Just the steps I must follow to convert your .com in a tape-loadable .bin... Do I have to make a BASIC loader to put everything in the right place in RAM?... please, extend your last post!. Ah, and thanks in advance! Smile

I noticed a few oblivions in the conversion.

To fix it you must change the following bytes in sicmsx.com file with a hex editor.

03C75H: 0E BE -> 0E 98
0509DH: ED 79 -> 00 00
070C6H: D3 BF -> D3 99

It should be more stable that way.

I found these errors when I patched this game for our SN76489AN cartridge. It's great with (original) 4 sound voices! Smile

Big Thanks to http://www.colecovision.dk/sic.htm special mention to Eduardo Mello from opcodegames.com and Ricardo Bittencourt because this version was based in the MSX conversion Ricardo made in 2004.

You say Music Module x 2 but in the video I see 1 Music Module + 1 MSX-Audio.
Your MSX-Audio was modified into Music Module or maybe it's the opposite?

I just seen specifications. The Music Module have MSX-Audio inside so it's same.
We should be said "Music Module or MSX-Audio x 2".
