José Vila (Retroworks) is developing this promising game port for our MSX computers. Actually, Sydney Hunter and the Caverns of Death is a Flash game created some time ago by Keith Erickson (Studio Piña) and now José has permission and direct support from him in this task. You are probably already aware about the first reactions from the community in our forums.

The idea is to create a 32KB or 48KB ROM game for MSX1 computers with at least 16KB RAM and thanks to the MSX Blog site we can already download a demo version! The quality of the port is very high compared to the original version. Judge for yourselves.

It looks really great and the controls are good as well, I’m very much looking forward to it.

Also, great that you got the support from the author of the original!

Super cool. BTW: I saw this game is also being ported to NES and SNES (kickstarter). Any joint development?
Exciting to see that a retro inspired indie game is back ported to the systems it's got it's inspiration from.

The demo looks really cool. The controls are spot on and the light effect is a very nice touch. The lava animation also reminds me a bit of Hero / Pitfall
