Intro-test or Interlaced Bitmap?
My toshiba hx20 recognizes 256x192 screen 1 bitmap but not 40 bytes lenght colour table. It works fine on emulators such blue or open. Any real MSX1 VDP can run it?Question

Many thanks for your reply. It seem to be a non-standard feature. If HX10 has a TMS9918/9a the most usual VDP then the emulation is not so acurated.

ok, oddness festival begins Smile
But the other pirate demo works

I presume this is an earlier test demo

Whatever is different between the two causes "vdp pirates" to not work. there's still some rudness with the "noise" going on, it looks like a repeating pattern and it also occurs consistently in the same part of the screen, unfortunately I don't have a camera capable of recording this well enough to see what is happening.

I've finally managed to test my first demo and the WYZ ones on my trusty old HB-75P (using the CF-IDE, shame on me!).

Well, no one works, WYZ has used an unofficial TMS9918 (TMS9929?) mode that mixes over SC1 a text mode and a graphic mode. When running the demo the screen shows the same vertical pattern that can be seen in the first screenshot. In the last demo, the VDP test works fine (it even shows some color checkered pattern in the middle of the screen than none emulator is able to show!); but when it starts, garbage appears clearly dividing the screen in three areas (the pattern banks?).

My demo it's the one that seems to work, that's because I've used very different techniques. I'm only using standard SC0 and screensplits to achieve hires+color on this mode. In my recent test, the demo shows now some kind of little desynchronization in the start of every faked pattern bank, prolly due to some kind of new interrupt service installed by the CF-IDE that adds some extra T-states to the whole process. So, right now, the demo only could work on bare (or near of) machines.

@ JL: Did you test SC1 demo on your MSX2 and it worked? Question

Well, If your MSX1 pass the inital test unofficial sc1 bitmap is available. The second test showing the skull is an interlaced bitmap by changing pattern and colour tables using the same screen mode... very strange.

Yep!, I tested the demo on the machines with floppy, mainly my NMS8245 and the TR, and in both machines it works well. Weird that now, maybe I'm wrong, I don't remember that the VDP test was showing colors in this machines (like in the emus); but the MSX1 has showing some colored centered boxes. Having a found a way to test all this demos using my MSX1, I can repeat a more detailed test using all the machines if you want.

For future reference: https://sourceforge.net/p/openmsx/bugs/228 (and yes, it's fixed)
