Maggoo released a new version of the universal platform game engine called Vscreen. This engine is very good education for ASM coders (as the sources are included), but its main goal is to allow people with limited development skills to create their own platform games. A demo game is included. Changes in this new version:

  • Border clipping mask enabled (using 22 sprites)
  • Modification in the split mode code. This should reduce garbage in 7mhz and TurboR
  • Display of score, number of stars collected, number of lives remaining

You can download Vscreen right here or get it at Maggoo's website

About the screensplit: Wouter fixed a bug in openMSX... The mode change in a split only has effect on the next screenline.... openMSX changed it right away.
