Manuel Bilderbeek managed to create an AVI video out of the highly anticipated X-Tazy introdemo 1.2, which is, specwise, quite demanding. For those unable to download and watch the demo on 'the real thing' and don't have the right hardware to put emulators to good use, this is the one solution. Some remarks about this video:

  • The framerate is 10FPS, due to Manuel's admittedly limited hardware
  • The video is of the lowest quality, using openMSX' scale_factor 1. Fortunately, this has a useful consequence for you downloaders: it will take you less time
  • The video stutters at regular intervals. Nevertheless, it should run 100% smoothly on real hardware, as well as on the newest openMSX CVS version
  • Sound was recorded separately, so video and audio are out-of-sync sometimes

As said, it's always best to download and play the demo on real hardware or openMSX. People who haven't seen this demo yet, download and play it in your favourite video player. You'll be pleasantly surprised, staring at the seemingly endless possibilities of the combination of MSX turboR, GFX9000 and Moonsound!

Here is a better one. This time rendered to AVI directly by openMSX, with the new AVI recorder that was just implemented. We use a lossless codec. After recording the sound to MP3 it became 102MB :) The GOogle version was re-encoded by themselves to MPEG-4, which reduced the quality, but also the size. Check it out :)

Framerate of the original movie is 60 fps, but still scale factor 1 (just enough to fit all pixels, though). There is no stuttering and sound and video are in perfect sync :)
