Dragon Slayer 3 & 4 translation

For all the lucky people currently having a three day weekend, MSX Translations decided it was the right time for some interesting game patches! This time not just one, but three game translations are released: Romancia for MSX1 & MSX2 and Dragon Slayer 4 for MSX2. All three games have been translated completely. Besides the translated texts, a number of enhancements have been made.

Romancia a.k.a. Dragon Slayer Jr., highlights (among others)

Turbo Mode for all MSX computers that support one.
Possibility to switch languages in game
Added feature to save to/ load from SRAM
Optional speed boost patch for people who don't have a turbo R
Force NTSC option

The MSX1 version doesn't have all the additional features yet, but in the near future an update will be released.

Dragon Slayer 4 MSX2 features, highlights (among others)

Turbo mode for turbo R, Ciel and Panasonic MSX2+ computers
Updated Password system. Passwords compatible with those of Kralizec, who kindy let us use part of their patch. Added support for all different types of MSX keyboards.

A release for the MSX1 version is being worked on.

Spanish MSX lovers can soon enjoy both versions of Romancia in their mother tongue as well, thanks to Sapphire's hard work. Expect an update shortly.

If I may, I would ask only one extra enhancement to Dragon Slayer 4 MSX2: scroll, like the NES version has (could be enabled only for MSX2+/TR). This would make this version perfect.

These ones have been long in the making, Max did an excellent programming job (check the s-ram and other added features!!)

Tsunami did an outstanding job on translating... he's very picky on his translations and tries to keep them as authentic as possible... something I do not always agree with

One question concerning Romancia, I'm -more or less- following the walkthrough and I'm in the Lava Castle, but if I want to reach this "magic portal" at the demon's head, I only end up below it, in the lava, and when I go down again, I end up in Hell (ofcourse).

Meanwhile I'm still a pig but I got the Dragon Slayer, let the green key thing be 'blessed' and I've already awoken Vaides, who is following me all around and kicking my ass (don't have a potion and am all out of DP).
It's impossible to get back to Romancia Kingdom by foot, even back through the maze again, since anywhere I go, Vaides catches up with me and totally destroys my shit.
Did I ruin it in such extent that I'd better just start over at a certain point?

I'm guessing the magical portal you are talking about is the dragon mask. If you stand before it and then press down, you'll go through the platform and get the pendant. Be sure to use the pegasus wings just before pressing down so you don't fall through the lava. The pendant resolves your other problem. Once you have unleased Vaides, you should use the pendant. It'll teleport you back to Romancia.

Perhaps there was too much time between you getting the hint to check beneath the mask and actually doing it. Some tasks you need to perform within a certain amount of time. Other than that I have no clue why you don't get the item.

That could be a clue, since I indeed first got the hint, then went for the Dragon Slayer, then unleashed Vaides and only then tried to get the portal. Thx again, I'll try to perform both acts a.s.a.p. following upon eachother now.

@sd_snatcher: Max thinks it could be done, but he's busy with another project. Perhaps that is something up your alley seeing you made a very nice patch for smooth scrolling in the past.
