We reported earlier about the retranslation of Hideo Kojima's popular tactical espionage game Metal Gear. Joy Division, who are retranslating the game and creating a Metal Gear fangame have submitted a status update.

"Metal Gear for the MSX platform was a landmark title in gaming history, and is the cornerstone of Hideo Kojima's legacy as a designer. Over 40% of the text was cut from the Homesoft translations (MSX, NES) and we're proud to present a fully updated script that is worlds apart: Missing messages have been restored, grammar and spelling have been corrected, and distinct dialects and deliveries have been localized appropriately for a Western audience."

Currently, Joy Division is looking for an experienced programmer/debugger for implementation of text that is fully proofread, localized, and formatted. You can contact Joy Division if you're interested.

Dr. J: I suggest you submit your initial posting in the forum. That's the place where you can expect no editting is being done. The frontpage (and the newsarchive) is under authority of the msx.org crew (please read our policies). We decided your initial posting had to be editted.

Alright, I suppose that's fair. I didn't mean to come off as angry, but the deadline is an important piece of information. I'll submit it to the forums.
