Try the demo screen8.rar at
https://sites.google.com/site/testmsx/screen-8-smooth-horizontal-scrolling

The purple bar is the CPU time spent
All the rest is FREE time for game engine!!!

screen8.rar is a beta but works almost perfectly (sometimes it misses a column at direction change)

Use arrows to change direction

PS
Sample graphic from Toni Galvez and from the web
If you want a walking warrior instead of a star trek Enterprise provide animated sprites (frames and colors)
;)

I have recorded only a few seconds so you can see, I copied the description you put, I hope you do not mind having copied the text.

Loading files to the card from DOS Padial, the fund does not look right, riding a DSK image from files in RAR works perfectly well to save the flashing.

Greetings

The startrek PHOTO, that is what I meant when I talked about MSX2 competing with Amiga OCS and PC Engine.

There is a picture at the wall. Now, if you would replace that with a photo of spock, that would rock!!!

The background gfx are nice, but they look like pixeled for a 16 color mode. Using the 256 color mode needs more "photo" style. Maybe one could make tiles by directly snipping them out of a photo. I think after getting into it, it actually might be less work than pixeling for 16 colors.

Hello Hit9918,

The original Star Trek Demo is this:

https://sites.google.com/site/testmsx/Home/smooth-horizontal-scrolling/StarTrek_demo_screen8.rar?attredirects=0&d=1

You can see that it makes better use of the Sc8 palette, brither colors.

send me a picture of a level you would see that can be built by 112 tiles
Actually emulators do not show the glitch I see in the video from real HW...
Maybe dvik and openmsx team could have a look at why emulators fail with this demo

Hello Hit9918,

I just downloaded it. On bluemsx MSX2 the glitch includes the sprite jumping one pixel left. But not on bluemsx MSX2+ .

The bug looks like timing problems. The emu might have no issue other than not being exact on blitter timings. A timing bug then results in all sorts of different behavior.

The glitch happens around the time where rasterbar shows much lower time usage.
Unlike the real MSX youtube videos I never saw the blue rasterdisplay on top of the screen.

screen8_2011_02_19.rar is a new beta with a tileset with much more colors
Starting to work to vertical scrolling
I noted that on openmsx and bluemsx there is one frame where the screen does not move.
It is like R#18 at its max extent make the picture on the screen overlap with itself moved of 16 pixels.
Maybe this is the origin of the glitch on the real HW, where maybe the picture moved by R#18 and the one moved of 16 pixels should show one pixel of offset...

This doesn't occur every time but once a while (emulated nms8255 on openMSX)
