Laser Squad (Italian game?)

Hi,

Has anyone ever heard of it? Are there any known original copies of this one? Was it only released in Italy?

I found it somewhere, it has a screen 8 loading screen which says "Hydra Soft Trento", but that looks more like a cracker than the developer to me...

Any info, peepz?

its the game that originated the combats in x-com ufo defense.
great 2 player strategy game with combats in turns. the msx version appears to be the same as the spectrum, don't know if it's a msx 1 version or msx 2, cause I had a msx 2 when I played it and never tested on the msx 1.
controls are like in the spectrum, qa op and space.

Surely not released in Italy only. It is a british game Laser Squad, made by same person who made same like mid-eighties rpg classic Chaos for the Spectrum. (which got sequel in the late eighties/early nineties and has good colourful graphics)

Seems nobody had put Laser Squad to generation-msx. I think it is in some msx mania collection.

Yeah, I was also planning to put it on GenMSX, but I don't have enough info.

I think it's just a Spectrum port, but does it only exist in Italian? Has someone else actually seen a non-Italian version? Is Hydra Soft Trento the actual porter?

Nope, there's also a spanish release ported by the same Blade software (Teque?) and distributed by System4. Never seen it and I'm not aware of a tape/disk image preserved although I know some people that seems to have it.

There's also a review in spanish "MSX Club" Magazine, no idea about the issue.

My version is an Italian version converted by "Reflex" and not Hydra Soft.

Btw, just dumped correctly with Martos tools, with no errors, but openMSX and blueMSX hang when loading first file (the BIN loader of following Turbo-Spectrum blocks).

The Laser Squad game is part of TOSEC, easily found - both versions (sp) and (it) as DSK.
It's a port from Spectrum, and it's a really nice game!

Never heard of that one but the gameplay does indeed remind me of the Xcom game serie on the PC and I used to love those. Is there any english version of the game ?

The tosec ones I tried, but I think they are identical. So, both Italian I guess.... Menu reads as in the YT video (which seems to be from the Sp tosec disk image).

TOSEC (sp) versions are wrong, they're also italian ones. I haven't been able to find any other version.
