One or more Brazilian developers are currently working on a PC remake of Konami's popular MSX game Knightmare. On the Knightmare remake website you can download a demo version of the game, which contains the first level of the game, and have a look at several screenshots.

You actually need a slow machine for this remake. This is totally unplayable on my Athlon 1900+ Big smile

You don't need a slow machine, just use a program to make the machine slower. I think I used once Breeze (or something) I must check to be sure, but it works.

I had a project back in 2003 -when I was not a Karoshi- about remaking Knightmare in Shockwave format for online playing...

This was the last beta of my project. Popolon gfx isn't the definitive one, but you can move him and see the scrolling background (and some nice distortion effect). Now this project is paused... perhaps I'll continue it in the future...

BTW, the scroll isn't just a continue loop, the tiling routine for the different stages was done in this beta... the thing is that the stage buffer is always the same Smile... Woa it's been a year since the last time I saw this demo Smile

well, there is nothing more coded. The scroll reach the technical end and it returns to the begining of the stage, so there is nothing. There is no enemies there and no shooting routine. There is no music, nor SFX... it's just this moving popolon and that scrolling routine, nothing more. Smile If i get some time to spare perhaps I'll continue it, for now it is not in my plans Smile.

she must have gone shopping or something...but u know viejo? I am marching on...whistling the music of knightmare...I am prepared....noticed I am defenseless too,since I cannot use the spacebar key....but,Ill find a way !
(realy,is it possible to sneak behind the bossmonster? I always thought I did once as a kid,and saw a little picture or animation from walking through a tunnel....then again,I might have dreamt it...but I am sure and it bugs me still.....dream or real?)

I tink this looks promising for such an early beta. One of the few things I really dislike about the original is how slow it is in the beginning, but you guys turn up the heat right away. Great!

Apart from a few bugs I wish you could make the "hitbox" on the main character a bit smaller. Another suggestion is change it so that you select the ground bonuses (points, clear screen, freeze etc) with the feet of the character.

I didn't have any problems with the speed on my PIV 3Ghz.
