You mean there is NVRAM outside the battery-backed RTC clock in MSX2?

Hmmm... Knowledge is power... Ok, I did first:

SET TITLE "",1

and this corrected the problem

But then I felt lucky, so I typed in:

SET TITLE "SONY HB-F1XD",2

now MSX doesn't go beyond the boot logo Sad

I kept the batteries outside for a while (20 minutes), but this didn't help.

Is there a magic key combination to clear all this NVRAM mess?

Thanks Smile

You're supposed to press space after the screen boots... Next you'll tell me you used SET PASSWORD and forgot what it was! Tongue

You'd think and MSX Addict would know all this stuff! Oh, by the way, a TITLE and/or PASSWORD can only be 6 characters long iirc. That, and it replaces your PROMPT. This stuff is all in your BASIC handbook though...

All that this rating means is that I spam a lot on this forum, it doesn't translate into MSX experience or knowledge Smile

TITLE and/or PASSWORD can only be 6 characters long iirc

If you want, that your MSX does not stop at boot and wait for key, you must define title, that is less than 6 characters long. If it is ok, that your MSX stops, then you can use 6 characters.

For password there is no such a limit. I think, that the limit is 255 characters, but I'm not sure.

The password is anyway so weak, that there is no use for long passwords. Almost always 2-4 (write able) letters is enough to get you in no matter, what the password is. If you for example set "MoonSound" as password, you can get in by typeing "##"

You see, I've done some brute force tests against this password. Tongue

if you have set a password but can not remember what it was you can use <GRAPH> + <STOP> and you will skip password check.
