Sunrise CF-ATA-IDE question

I bought a Sunrise CF-ATA-IDE device at the fair in Bussum today;
I've succeeded in making 2 FAT12 partitions, and let it boot from the first.
I decided to try it out by copying some games to it in directories; now, small games (.e.g. Goonies and the like) work fine but megarom dumps (you know, for example Nemesis.GA1 - Nemesis.GA7; games that require 128kb memory or more) don't work. I tried it on both my VG8235 and NMS8250 and they both have the same result; one of the computers has 128kb memory, the other has 512kb. I also have a 4MB memorymapper but that doesn't seem to have any influence.
Now there's probably a reason for this, but I wonder what it could be.
If anyone can help, please reply.
Thx in advance,

*update* I just tried it with no compact flash card installed, simply booting in DOS2 basic and the same thing happens.
Is there a way to solve this or to run the CF in DOS1 mode?

To work with IDE, you need DOS2 (built in to your interface)

DOS2 requires at least 32KB of memory, so your game does not fit to your memory, if you have only 128KB.

Memory handling is also different from DOS1 (in DOS1 there is no any kind of memory handling) usually that is the reason, why you get into troubles also in 512KB machine.

There is a program called that patches the DOS2 memory handling in order to get it more close to DOS1. I think you should try that. (I have it on my autoexec.bat) It wont make these megaroms to work in your 128KB machine, but with 512KB you might get more lucky. External memory mapper should make your other computer to work with the game as well.

If this does not work, try to find another, better crack.

Perhaps on funet, there's a lot of free utils there, many of which allow running all sorts of games from harrdisk.

ah..finally found it; (map.pma)
that does the trick too; the 4mb memory mapper doesn't seem to get along with it, but on the 512kb nms8250 it works rather well Smile
Thanks a lot!
