I decided to try the newer MSX Audio upgrade (v1.3):
http://frs.badcoffee.info/tools.html
Burned a ROM with the file, msxaudio13.NMS-1205.rom, but now I don't get any sound at all :o

What am I doing wrong??

Yup, that's the one I have. The v1.2 rom it came with works fine. The V.3 I burned does not

did you compare the content of the rom with the file you burned?

I did mate, it was verified 100%. As there was no sound, I wiped it and reburned the original 1.2. It worked first time.
I looked at the images and the v1.2 rom seems a lot bigger. I can also see samples on it.
Nothing like that on v1.3

Yes its the same size. My original V1.2 is 64k however.

Is there a special instruction to activate V1.3? Tried Call Audio & Call Music but both just freeze the system

according to readme you should be able to do call music to disable the onboard music chip if any (if i read that correctly)
but if that locks up...
no idea whats wrong then

This new version is bigger now requires a 64KB ROM. The Philips Music-Module
upgrade board already supports this. It's just a matter of installing a
27C512 EPROM and jumping the board accordingly.

from readme file

Used the same 64k rom that came with it (27c512)
the jumper is already set to 64k
Used the file as mentioned in my first post.

Is there any prefernce for programming software? or settings?

I use a bog standard Willem Programmer, which programs V1.2 to the very same chip using the same software with no problems.

The call functions work fine in V1.2

Looks like I'm stuck with 1.2 Crying
