@ sd_snatcher

So if i use a slotexpander and the both cartridges and the 1.3 bios for the music module i will be safe.
But using the 2 cartridges and the opl3/4 stereo bios it will fry them ?

@roadfighter

No. The bottom line is: Never use both cartridges configured to the same I/O port at the same time. The BIOS and/or slotexpander will make no difference in this.

For more details on this risk, ask to your favorite hardware guy on the hardware forum. Smile

Guys,

I'm receiving too many questions about this hardware issue in pvt.

Let's get this straight: Never configure two read/write devices like the OPLn chips to use the same I/O port . That's a hardware issue. It's similar to configuring the famous PSG bits that can damage it. The BIOS has NOTHING to do with this.

Configuring two devices for the same I/O port can fry your cartridges WITHOUT the BIOS!

This explanation settle this matter, I'll not dig further on this. Let's move on to the next topic. Those who can't believe on such advice have two options:

1) Take their own risks and continue to use both cartridges configured to the same I/O port
2) Ask a hardware specialist for a more detailed explanation

ok
i hear you

but...
i see you talking about "configuring two devices for the same i/o port...."
is there a way to have them both working on a different i/o port?

Tried quite a few MSX Audio games, but they don't work (no music)

The MSX Audio games seem fine...

Can anyone post a list of MSX Music games that definitely should work Question

The above post should read, MSX Music titles don't work in the main, but MSX Audio does.

Would be nice to have a list of ones that work with Audio bios v1.3. I've tried Compile games Aleste 1 & 2 but they don't work. Golvellius 2 works fine...

Some Disk Station have demo games compatible MSX-AUDIO.
You can see the Little [A] for Msx-Audio.

The point of that new BIOS is, as far as I understand it, that you don't need that awful poke hack.
