The trick is to insert the japanese disk when you are entering the tower and then insert the english translation again.

I stumbled upon this topic, a I am playing the translated version of Ys2. And when I try to get out of the tower (after the bell has struck 5 times...), my bluemsx just freezes. I will try to see if this hint helps. If someone in the meantime has some guidance, I'd be appreciated! :-)

There's a version distributed that tends to freeze (though I think it usually happens just after Dalles cursed you).
Could you try a version from a different source?

Thanks John!

The trick mentioned didn't work for me, but I did manage to 'teleport' myself out of the tower and continueing with the disk called 'Data Disk'.... I finally was able to finish the game which I started in the early 1990s :-)

In the final 1/3 of the game, I had a permanent (but small) error in the screen. Another was added when I received the Crelia Armor from the man in Lamia. A part of the relevant text was permanently on my screen in the final part of the game. I also noticed that the final boss and the end-demo was in Japanese, not in English.

If someone has improved versions of the dsks for me, I would be delighted to have those! I can prove that I have the original disks in my posession.

Finally: there was some great pictures in the end-demo. And there also are some in the book which comes with the game. I haven't seen them around yet on the internet. If I can share them somewhere for online storage, please let me know!

I once heard that Oasis had the habit of leaving a tiny part of the game untranslated, as part of some contest with a prize.
For instance, in SD Snatcher, it's somewhere in Queen hospital.
If that's true, why they chose to do it with a crucial dialogue such as the final boss' monologue, beats me.
The untranslated enddemo probably has a different reason.
And sure, I'm probably not the only one who would like to see those pictures! Smile
Maybe this is a good place to share them?

Thanks again John! I uploaded some pics to my new album: https://www.msx.pics/album/V3HY

There are four pictures there from the manual, which are difficult to photograph. I think they look fine.

Slightly updated versions of the Ys patches can be found here: http://www.msxtranslations.com/archive.php

Note: these are NOT retranslations! And these are done LOOOOOOOOOOONG ago.

The Ys games warrant implementation of a retranslated script seeing the differences are huge.
