I am now using the disk image from Passion MSX, which has a sha1sum of a4e7568ebb1c421bae584d94b6c2c9f292fa26d3 It is created with DiskManager, is double sided (720kB) and seems to have the correct media descriptor ID for that (F9).

Results of some testing on openMSX:

It works on a GT and on a 8250 it hangs somewhere during loading (black screen).

It also works on other Panasonic machines, the Sanyo PHC-70FD2.
Does not work on any Sony machine I tried (700P, G900P, F900, F1XV), Daewoo CPC-400S, or any Philips machine.

It works on a Panasonic FS-A1F, but not on a Panasonic FS-A1 with a Sony disk drive.

I think there is something with the disk BIOS that makes the difference here. But what?

And for me the most important question: what exactly does this precise disk image to on real machines?

I have tested the same image from PASSIONMSX on a REAL MSX 8250 and it runs perfect.

Very interesting! How did you put it on a real floppy?

Exactly like you did, with DiskManager...

Version from Passion MSX works fine on NMS8250 in BlueMSX...

I noticed the differences:

1. My version located on 360KB disk.
2. In my version game uses font from ROM (in version from PassionMSX also ROM font, but bold!).

I didn't put it on a real floppy, and if I would, I wouldn't have used DiskManager Tongue

max: hmm, weird, weird, weird! THe version you use has the same problems as the one from Passion MSX? Or is there other different behaviour (I kind of lost overview).

The one Max has works fine in openMSX on a 8250 and turboR (didn't test more yet). So, what's going on with that Passion MSX version?

I see some confusion here. And I am confused myself too Wink

I have no problem with all versions. My version and PassionMSX version working fine on 8250/Turbo-R & many other models. The code is never executed at the address listed in previous messages. I put a break-point there in debugger and game never stopped.

The PassionMSX version gives problems on openMSX with a 8250, but not with turboR. That's how this topic began Smile
Or do you mean you also tried on openMSX and you see no problems??

Anyway, we're still trying to figure out what's going wrong.

I was using blueMSX, not openMSX. Now I tried openMSX and it indeed looping at the same spot. I look inside both images and my image using COMMAND.COM 1.11 and PassionMSX image using COMMAND.COM 2.2. I copied my command.com to passionmsx image and it still freezing at the same spot. In blueMSX it works with or without floppy timing emulation. I wanted to disable floppy timing emulation in openMSX, but didn't found how to do it. If you start openMSX debugger and write 00h into 7FF8h, the game will continue loading and start.
