Hello,

If I try to record a video (by using 'record start' command) the emulator crashes during the boot sequence in MSX2 and upper (showing the MSX logo animation).

I guessed the hi-res mode (512x212) was the problem so I made a tiny basic program drawing some stuff in SCREEN 7. It crashed as well.

The video recording works fine in 256px modes, though.

(I'm on Windows XP, OpenMSX 0.10.0)

Hi try the newest build: http://openmsx.fixato.net/builds/windows/x86/openmsx-0.10.0-...

let me know if it still happens.

Yes, please try that. This problem was most likely fixed last week.

Also, it should not crash if you use the -doublesize option for the record start command.

Nice! Good job, guys!

It works fine now.
BTW, did you change the codec or something? It seemed to me that the video quality has been improved.

Thank you for efforts.

Nope, codec hasn't changed, it's still ZMBV. Using -doublesize gives much better video quality in higher res modes, though (80 columns screen 0, screen 6, screen 7).

Did you work around by installing a new version or did you start to use -doublesize?

I installed the new version.

I still have to test the FM emulation on the new version, but it has been impossible because I'm reforming my home and don't have the audio system installed yet.

Didn't notice before, but now the recorded videos are in low resolution (I mean, the SCREEN 7 shows like SCREEN 5).

I did not change any config or parameter, just installed the new build.

With record start, the resolution has always been the same: 320x240. So screen 7 will look blurry.

For full resolution, always use record start -doublesize and you get 640x480 output.

This has never changed...

Maybe, it should be easier for the end-user if by default, record start would use the 640x480 output.

It is defined as that in blueMSX :

Quote:

By default, the video rendering will use 60 frames per second and a 640x480 resolution. You can eventually change the corresponding parameters in the blueMSX.ini file :

video.captureFps=60
video.captureSize=1

The first one can be set to anything, but the two values coherent with the VDP frequency of the emulated machine are 50 and 60.
60 is better to use whenever possible because it's what the frame mixing routines are optimized for.

The second can be set to 0 and 1. 0 means 320x240 resolution; 1 means 640x480 resolution.
