hi rfocosi, firstable I would like to thank you for an awesome tool that you made. I would like to report an issue, but probably it's a trait of MSX software. When I try to load .bin files that have names shorter than 7 characters then the MSX refuse to load them. Maybe some workaround could be implemented in MSX2CAS?

Hi.
I've tested the software for the first time and was unable to load any game to my MSX.

The scenario is:
MSX - Phillips VG-8020/40 (https://www.msx.org/wiki/Philips_VG-8020)
ROM file - skyjaguar.rom
Smartphone - Huawei P30

I've tried all the possible combinations (palyback speeds, inverted Waveform). Smarphone full volume. No success.

In the end I have a doubt about the cable. The mentioned cable is a specific cable or the original cable that came with the computer (https://www.msx.org/wiki/Data_Recorder_connector)?
I'm using the original cable and tested using EAR and MIC jack connectors.

Can someone help me or pinpoint me any other source that explaining how to debug this?

Thx to everybody,
Ricardo

It's a newish phone and they have limitations on the db they can output so you may need to add an amp between the phone and the MSX.
Did you use BLOAD"CAS:",R ?

Does phone have any setting in android to turn off this 'ear volume protection' kinda feature?

Hi guys.
The volume limitation is a very good ideia.
I will follow that.

Hi.

I've installed an app that removes the cap on the audio volume. But to now avail. I'm still getting nowhere. No error simply nothing.

I will try with a laptop (just to see if there is any difference) and I'm starting to look in the domestic market (my home country is Portugal) to see if I can get a data recorder.
I've used cartridges and the computer works fine but I haven't load a game using a data recorder in 30 years.

Thx for all the help!

I had the same problem and solved like this: put the volume at the max and change phase in the options.

Have you tried other ROMs?
You could get a CASDuino and convert the ROM to a WAV file using CASLink3 (which is essentially what MSX2CAS does) and then convert the WAV to CAS file using WAV2CAS.

I've tried several ROMs.
But, because I'm not sure about the cable (or the MSX conector), I have run my test set using always the same ROM.

I was hoping that someone that owned the same MSX model had done it with success and could pinpoint the config/procedure.
