piracy? the rom is FREE, the game is a perfect clone of an existing game (did they payed the royalty?).So if i download that rom for free and use it in my msx is ok , but if i made a modification to it for PERSONAL USE (no internet redistribuition to anyone) is it PIRACY? i don't belive this

it's not because something is free you have all the rights on this thing !
Other considerations about the fact this game is a remake will not change this fact.

Only the author can give the right to do modification in the way the game is distributed, or to change any bit of the rom.
Artrag said technically it's piracy, but give the right to do a K7 version. So there is no reason to complain.

For me it was the challenge to create a cas/disk version, so i was glad to see i've got it to work. Altering a game in any way is always considered piracy (even for personal use) by me, because it was not ment to be in that form. Because ARTRAG gave permission (thank You for that) to share the CAS file, i've uploaded it to Zippyshare. The game itself is not altered in any way, but has some extra bytes to get it working from tape.

uridium exists in two version, standard and 3 colours for EACH SINGLE SPRITE!

if you download the zip file you will find uridium3c.rom file....

The explanation is in the readme.txt file :

Quote:

NB: the release for msxdev 14 is in the file URIDIUM48.ROM

The rom named URDIUM3c.rom has to be considered out of contest.
It is intended to be used on real HW and CRT monitors.

On emulators, set perfect vsync between msx and the monitor refresh
On bluemsx the best results are reached with the option "blend cnsecutive frames"

So, the official MSXdev'14 release is URDIUM48.ROM (one I is missing, probably to respect the 8.3 format).

As i told you before i'll use uridium in cas format on my REAL MSX 1 WITCH CRT TV ,not on an emulator, i can't see the problem....

Maybe it is better to make clear some details
1) Before developing Uridium, we asked permission to Hewson Consultants, to Graft Gold, to Steve Turner, to the original coder and to the current owner of the rights (Jason Kingsley at Rebellion), so, please stop insinuating bullshit.
2) You asked if anyone can make and send you a cassette version of our game, as you are not able to make it work by yourself: this is internet distribution.
3) The rom was supposed to be free and distributed as it is - without a byte changed. Any change, without author's permission, is blatant disregard of the work done by someone else (me) and yes, it is piracy.

Do not worry, I agreed in doing a cassette version provided that nothing is changed in titles and game elements so I will not sue you
:-)

PS
we are both in Italy: actually the fact we are in the same country makes possible to start a legal action, but the fact that our country is Italy, makes any legal action not very convenient or resolutive.
You are safer here in Italy than on the dark side of the moon.

@ddehaan
Thanks for the conversion! I've just tested on MSX1 (emulated by bluemsx) and it works perfectly. With your permission we could also include your CAS in the distribution page, Eric, could we ?

Anyway, Abobo is [kindly] asking for the conversion of the rom URDIUM3c which shows sprites with alternating colors which bled giving the illusion of 3 colors per sprites.

PS
TBH even on CRT monitors the final effect is not very convincing as in this game the enemies move very fast while the blending works well only when you have fixed or slow moving objects.
For the sake of the science, it could be worth to try it just to see how it goes, but do not expect miracles.
