Hi,
Fuzix builds are starting to get a bit more stable, so I have prepared some prebuilt images for those who want to take a look,

Fuzix prebuilt images

most of the basic unix tools seem to work and it takes quite a while to hang the machine;
but nothing really useful can be done with it yet because:
- the shell is very simple
- a good editor is missing (we have a vi clone called levee, but still doesn't work)
- there are no msx specific utilities for fuzix yet (I encourage the brave ones to contribute some)

and these are the unix tools included in the prebuilt image:

banner basename bd cal cat chgrp chmod chown cksum cmp cp cut
date dd decomp16 df dirname dosread du echo ed false fdisk
fgrep fsck grep head id init kill ll ln logname ls man
mkdir mkfifo mkfs mknod more mount mv od pagesize
passwd patchcpm printenv prtroot ps pwd rmdir rm sed
sleep sort ssh stty sum su sync tail tee touch tr true
umount uniq uud uue wc which whoami who write
xargs yes

E.-

Great! Thanks for the progress report. What is the current state of the hardware support?

No need for vi. Ed appears to be there. Smile

ssh sounds interesting... I hope we see TCP/IP stack implemented soon...

Indeed. Over RS232, if possible, networking hardware being hard to find lately.

ssh is actually is "simple shell", not the 'real ssh'. Big smile

tcpip is coming; see excerpt from Alan in main repo. I would actually would like to start it myself, but not gonna happen; Alan worked in the networking area of Linux so he knows better.

What Key Features Are Missing Still
ptrace, core dumps, ulimit
root reserved disk blocks
banked executables
TCP/IP
select/poll()
/dev/tty alias
Support for > 32MB filesystems (but first figure out how to fsck a giant fs on a slow 8bit micro!)
Uptime
Smarter scheduler
Optimisations for disk block/inode allocator (2.11BSD)
CP/M emulator has not yet been debugged on the FUZIX syscall API

Is the Fuzix (extended Uzi) filesystem based on another known filesystem? (a quick search wasn't successful)

is a custom 16-bit version of ufs, you cannot plug an sdcard to a pc and copy files over, there are a couple of tools in the repo to create images and copy over files.

I have posted a video showing more progress in Fuzix.

levee (the vi clone editor) now kind of works, and I have fixed some minor bugs.
As you can see is slowly becoming a usable system.
