Received my FM Blaster today, downloaded DMV and it sounds great. Ofcourse, it's a Moonsound clone.

Cartridge looks solid and professional, the nice cartridge sticker and the white colored cartridge make a welcome and fresh change against all those black cartridges Smile

Great work Eric, thanks, two thumbs up!!

Hi Everybody! , I received last Monday FM Blaster and I tried today. The cartridge it's nice and very good quality!
Great job, Eric!!..Greetings!

One question: Once I connect the jack 3,5 mm to the Hifi component i need to press a bit into the cartridge for hear stereo channels instead a simple Left channel.

I don't know if it's neccesary tho buy a high quality jack cable..

Thanks!

Does the jack plug fit? You may need a narrower one.

I have one of these little extension cords which helps with some of my sound cartridges:

Yes, the 3,5 mm connector cable fits perfectly in FM Blaster sound-out cartride connector; I'll try another brand/style 3,5mm stereo audio cables.. And let's see what's the results..

Hello All,

I continuing working on the FM blaster for the people who didn't receive their cartridge yet.

I'm experienced a strange problem... I have two boards working well when they play songs with sounds coming from the YRW-801 Eprom chip.
But, when those boards are playing digitalised sounds coming from the SRAM, the sound is crappy...
I don't understand where the problem come from... Do you have an idea ?

Hello ericb59.
I think it's a great initiative that you provided so many msx fans with the possibility to hear OPL4 audio on a real MSX. I wasn't very satisfied with the audio output however. Luckily I urged one guy to buy one unit of you and he managed to enhance the output to a quality that matches moonsound. The result looks a bit odd since there's some extra resistors visible, but the case isn't see through so that's not a great deal.
I mention this not as a negative remark to your great effort, but as a wish to let your other customers experience the OPL4 the way it was meant to be.

Again, thanks for all the effort you took, the professionalism of the end result (of all your hardware) and I hope you don't see this remark as a negative feedback Wink

Hello Meits.

My FM BLASTER cartridge is a clone of the Wozblaster (Itself a clone of the Moonblaster).

I have an Original Wozblaster, and i've not found any sound level differences between the two Boards (FM BLASTER // WOZBLASTER).

You said me the FMBLASTER-Wozblaster have a less output level as other OPL4, well, I believe you.
But, overall, this is not a real problem I think, for most of the users.

What are the modifications which where done on your FMBLASTER ? Perhaps I will be able to change some little things...

I do my best to provice good and reliable devices. But, I have to admit, making this cartridges is really a painful job oO

I know and that's why I find it painful to say that there's a little flaw in fm-blaster as I don't want to demotivate the few guys this community still has.
I guess the guy who did the modification already mailed you his findings. If not, I'll urge him to do so. He said it's like € 0,50 and half an hour of time. You won't believe your ears once it has been done Smile
