Yes, unfortunately my converter also goes haywire when I output 50/60Hz progressive picture instead of 25/30Hz interlaced picture. This may not be perfect solution for everyone.
Thanks Nyyrikki, but the FPGA board alone costs over 100 euros + it will be at least 15 for the board advertised on the webpage. What I have in mind is a single board with Altera FPGA. That won't cost over 30-40 euros. But need to learn how this stuff works first.
@Alexey: Yes, I know, but I just thought that this project may have some parts (like the input buffer) that could be reused or at least looking them might give some ideas, if some sort of FPGA implementation is in your distant plans.

I just have a couple of questions before ordering:
- Is the image clearer than using one of those GBS / Jamma boards? or put it this way, what is the benefit of this board versus the GBS?
- Does DIY mean that I have to solder the electronics on the board ?

Well, this board is not something special, there are several similar projects. I created it because my Japanese MSX machines do not work properly with those Chinese-made RGB to VGA converters. Also they don't work properly even with an expensive scan doubler - the picture is too sharp. My board outputs a decent S-Video signal that I feed to my Dell monitor. The board also supports connecting computers with separate sync signals, not only with composite. So you can use it with other vintage computers if you want.
The DIY kit means that you have to solder yourself. It's the cheapest way to get such a converter.
