MSX style shoot'em ups for the modern PC?

Hi all,
I grew up obsessively playing games like Salamander, Nemesis 3, Zanac EX... etc.

It doesn't seem this genre of games is very popular now.

Are there any PC games nowadays that have the same playstyle but more modern graphics, music... etc?

I played Hydorah and liked it a lot. I was looking for more similar games.

But it's really a "bullet hell" game as you see. Quite hard (although on the video, he's playing a harder mode)!

Some big recent names:
- Dariusburst Chronicle Saviours. Available on Steam and an excellent game: http://store.steampowered.com/app/377870/
- Raiden IV Overkill: http://store.steampowered.com/app/323460/ (Also available on gog.com, if you prefer a DRM free version.)

There are plenty more shoot'em ups out there on Steam. The selection on gog.com is fairly thin, but there are still a number of them.

I second foobarry81's suggestions, they are excellent games.
Also, Raiden 3 (but it's not as good as IV), AsteBreed, Ether Vapor Remaster, Strania, Ikaruga, Sine Mora (all on Steam)

Samor lol you have the same games I have on steam (some are in wishlist though).

I think Ikaruga is the best shmup on Steam atm. I bought it a while back hoping it will give the devs motivation to port Radiant Silvergun (and Guardian Heroes a beat 'em up), but alas they never did.

I was also hoping for Radiant Silvergun as I prefer it a lot over Ikaruga.
