Hey, not sure who organizes the MSX dev competitions every year. But I've been learning Z80 programming for the past couple of months, and if there is going to be a MSXdev 2016, then I'm participating for sure! So, anyway, just wondering if anyone has any info, or if it's way too early Smile

Heh, nice to see some actual Brain Games game on MSX in stead of MSX remakes on PC Wink

hahaha, indeed!!

I have been playing around with Z80 assembler for the past 3 - 4 weeks Just seeing what is doable Smile I've to admit programming for an 8bit machine is more fun than I imagined. All these memory and speed constraints make it feel like solving a puzzle Smile

@santiontanon.

Do you want to practice on something really cool when you are up to it?

Brain Games? Wellcome to real MSX world Wink F1-Spirit for MSX2? Cool

And yes, program for MSX is a real adventure, you must deal with CPU, VDP and memory limitations.

Wow! F1-Spirit for MSX2, that sounds like a challenge! I never fully liked the way we implemented some of the things on our PC remake anyway (e.g., PIT stops in the remake are awful, and basically break the game, and also, I never got the car-part specifications right, and some cars are clearly better than others), so, I've always wanted to visit that remake... But one step at a time Smile

Welcome Popolon, long time no see. Smile

It would be really nice a MSX2 version of F1 Spirit (either by hacking the original game or building a new one from scratch). One thing I wanted to do in the past (but never did) was to hack the original F1Spirit and make a CD version of it, using Jorito's songs (Similar to Knightmare Gold (a hack of Knightmare that has MSX2 graphics and plays songs from a CD). And of course you could use the ending graphics I did for the remake. Wink

I might be crazy enough to help out with some music perhaps. Hit me up if you have some more detailed idea.

Not sure what I could do, but I'd love to help out again, just as with the Brain Games team Smile
