If you have ever searched for MSX on Twitter, chances are you bumped into one of the women's portrait studies by 2D pixel artist Justin Paul Cyr. Ever since november 2014 he has frequently been posted sets of 32x32 portraits of women, in the MSX palette. After creating no less than 500 different portraits he announced to take a break, publishing all drawings on his blog. As an added bonus there is a timelapse video on YouTube where you can see 16 portraits coming to life.

I wonder, what does he mean by "MSX palette". MSX1 palette? Looks like it. But most of those portraits could not be easily displayed on an MSX1, because of the colour clash. Ok, with a couple of sprite layers it should be doable, but then you can't display more than two portraits horizontally...

But never mind about that. Impressive work indeed! This guy is very good!

Indeed it looks nice, but I have to agree that I see some artistic freedom taken here... One thing is that the pictures have been zoomed in a way that it smoothens the edges with colors that do not exist. This I put to category "bad reprentation" but what is more disturbing is that I can ie. clearly see brown color that my dear old MSX1 newer had. I think it is trying to represent color 6, but the colors are just not right. Although this is so close to MSX1 graphics, I think we have to put it to MSX2 category anyway... Nice pics though...
