So perhaps some good news: I'm adding support for extra features of the fMSX core into the RetroArch emulator frontend!
So far I have added support for Main & Video memory configuration. And also support for .dsk images.

But with .cas support I am getting the below error. Can anybody shed any light on what is wrong? I was never an MSX user back in the day and have only got into it since emulators made it possible, so apologies if this is obvious.

I have confirmed the .cas I am using works on MSX2+ in fMSX on Windows.
So the issue is something with fMSX on RetroArch that I am missing?

Thanks for your help!

You can expect this behaviour if no (valid) .CAS file is found. Are you 100% sure that your front-end correctly passes the data of the .CAS file to fMSX?

@Jipe same error on MSX1/2/2+ in the fMSX I am working on.

@tfh no I am not 100% sure.

emulator debug says it is using the .cas file I pass from the UI, so I assume it is correct.

but I need help figuring out where it is not connected, if it is not connected. is there any way to check the status of the tape in the MSX?

i will do some more debugging in the emulator.
