Hi all,

I'm new to these parts. Looking for a Turbo R machine.

Anyone currently looking to sell?

Thanks in advance.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again,
I'd sell the wife before my Turbo-R Tongue

But seriously, good luck finding one, the best investment you'll ever make! Wink

What are her specifications? And can you include a photo?

Hmmm. I guess this is going to be fairly difficult to accomplish. I'll have to just keep watching for one to show up.

To be honest you might as well get an MSX2+, there is very little software written just for the TurboR. Daniel sometimes has some good quality machines for sale, he strips them down, cleans them, changes disk drives, belts, etc

I think that very well may just happen. Of course I fall into the category of someone who's done too much reading into things and is led to believe that all of the games for the MSX computer run vastly superior on a TurboR. If that's not the case and there's not much difference between a 2+ and a TurboR and how they run the games, I may just grab myself a 2+ and call it a day.

Yeah, that's not really the case. Games not made for turboR run at the same speed as on MSX2+. If you just want to play games, a 2+ will do fine for the 99% of game titles out there.

On the Yahoo Japan Auction they have regularly Turbo-R's on sale for prices not that high:

I recently bought one from it as well for around 350 euros (excluding transportation costs of about 65 euros) and got it within a week.

Thanks all for the responses. I have some thinking to do!

How was your experience with the Japanese auction sites? Not knowing any Japanese makes me a little nervous.

My experience buying an MSX turboR GT off Yahoo Auctions Japan through the fromjapan.co.jp broker was fairly positive, though the fees were not cheap, they add quite a bit to the cost so keep that in mind. I know a bit of Japanese though, so with the help of Google Translate I can make do quite well on Japanese sites.

I wrote about my experience here, and a little follow-up here.

I bought mine through buyee and no i don't speak or read Japanese at all, so it was kind of a gamble (although Google translate sort of translated it). Fee was about 20 euros so all in all the additional costs were not that much. And as i mentioned already, i received it in perfect condition within a week of winning the auction.

I also see now and then that auction items are blocked by buyee so it looks there is at least some kind of check on the presented items.
