I've a NMS 8280 with two working drives in an original state. I got a BeerIDE interface and i wonder, which reasonable upgrades are worth to aquire and still available to buy.

So far i'm searching for a MegaRAM or a Mega-Mapper to play the "bigger" games. A MSXDOS2 cartridge would be great, but i think, they are not available anymore. Maybe the SD-512 would be worth a try?

I think most people will say the https://www.msx.org/wiki/MSX_Cartridge_Shop_MegaFlashROM_SCC...

It includes Nextor so you don't need a MSXDOS2 cartridge. It also allows you to load a ROM cartridge similar to a MegaRAM cartridge.

Ok, thanks.

The price for the 1 SD Slot version including 512K is pretty heavy ... and this one makes the Beer IDE useless.

You don´t need anything else besides the MFRSD512. The 8280 will take profit from the 512k of RAM, you'll get an SCC...
Get one.

Ok, it's done, 'cause i won't spend such an amount of money for this. It is three times more, than i spent for my 8280 with two keyboards ...

Thanks anyway ... can be closed.

You're right that it's a lot of money to spend on one thing. But add DOS2, any bare mass storage device with or without removable cards, an SCC+, a regular 1.0 megaflashrom cartridge (which can not run dsk files) and 512KB of ram... You'd be spending a lot more and be needing a slot expander...
So really, it's reasonable. Wink
