This remark is inadequate because the instructions depend on the Kanji driver not the MSX generation. Kanji driver came into the standard MSX2+ later with a few extra instructions, that's it. Only the added instructions should be noted MSX2+ (even if in reality it depends on the driver version alone. While it's not an MSX1, it works).

There are a few Japanese MSX2 machines with a kanji driver but without the 14 extra instructions.

The MSX-DOS2 cartridge has been released before the MSX2+ machines, and MSX-DOS2 is part of the MSX standard only since the Turbo R. So, you can't take it as base to say that the official generation for Kanji BASIC would be MSX2.

The Sony cartridge was released after most MSX2+, and contrary to the MSX-DOS2 cartridge, it does no require a system with Kanji-ROM as it has one Kanji-ROM built-in. Another reason to not take the MSX-DOS2 cartridge as base to say that the official generation for Kanji BASIC would be MSX2.

Only the release of MSX2+ machines has officially integrated Kanji BASIC as part of the standard.

I think some functions are activated depending on the hardware.

Some functions can exist on Japanese MSX2 without the 14 extra instructions. It does not change the fact that Kanji BASIC is officially part of the MSX2+ standard.

MSX Audio, MSX-DOS, MSX-JE, MSX-Kanji, MSX-Kanji Driver, MSX Music, etc. Each is officially a part of the MSX standard whether it is optional or not, and each is supported by the specified generation of machine.

Question of terminology. For me, fully official = no optional.

Google translation:
"MSX's Kanji BASIC is hardware with Kanji ROM, but the screen is SCREEN 5/7
…… The graphic screen depicts Kanji with software.
Moreover, CALL KANJI2: WIDTH 64 and CALL KANJI3: WIDTH 80 are SCREEN7 + interlaced!

* If you have DOS2 etc., Kanji BASIC will work with MSX1! In this case, SCREEN2 is always used.

However! MSX / FAN appendix discs and some douujin software
load kanji fonts from floppy disks to back VRAM, etc.,
and realize kanji display on MSX2, which does not have a kanji ROM!
Input and conversion are not possible at all, but fonts and kanji display are only software!

I feel that MSX was doing a lot when it came to displaying kanji."

I think the part about Kanji BASIC on MSX1 with DOS2 needs to be checked .... and what about Nextor that has both DOS1 and DOS2 modes?

https://www.msx.org/wiki/G.DOS_Slotexpander
I've read about this expander before. In the wiki I read this is for Gouda and in my memory it was said it was based on Gouda.
Eitherway. This G.Dos expander is a terrible piece of gear. The cartridge interface is in a audio cassette case and the expander itself is in a screwed shut VHS tape case.
I once had one here and compared it to the Gouda one... I saw no similarities and I do remember issues...

Please do research on the relation with Gouda on this one, cuz as far as I understood the only Gouda expander there is, is the 5.0 version which was the follow up on the MK 4.0.
I do not remember the issues exactly, but the build I do... What a troll, that thing was...

This is amazing because DOS2 does not work on MSX1. I must try it.

@Pac: do you have some info about the two undocumented BASIC instructions that can be found in the Rookie Drive ROM: CALL FNAME and CALL MOUNT? These instructions are not explained on the official site.
