About the MSX-DOS Commands page:

NYYRIKKI has added this note:
"Please note: This list contains both internal and external commands without separation. ie. CLS under MSX-DOS1 will require CLS.COM to be on disk while on MSX-DOS2 this is part of COMMAND2.COM command line interpreter. This list does not include COMMAND2.COM version 2.4x extended commands such as GOTO or similar."

The goal of this page is to include only the internal commands (CLS is mentioned with DOS 2.20, not DOS 1). The external commands will be on a separate page (in a similar way to the MSX-BASIC Extensions). So I think this note should be removed, except for the part about version 2.4

CLS and other concerned commands will be in 2 categories: MSX-DOS Commands (for MSX-DOS2) and MSX-DOS Extensions (for MSX-DOS 1), at least it's what I propose to the wiki.

Indeed this is better place to discus...

XCOPY, XDIR, UNDEL, CONCAT etc. are all external commands... (and PATH is not command at all)

Although DOS2 disk contained the programs like CHKDSK.COM etc. they are not part of the command interpreter it self.

I don't have added myself the MSX-DOS 2 commands. Only the internal commads should be on this page, but Rderooy does not seem to have seen the problem with external commands.

All external commands must be in a page called 'MSX-DOS Extensions" and it can happen that a command is in two categories (the example of CLS is obvious).

mars2000you's reply: and all these commands are mentioned for MSX-DOS 2, not 1, exactly as already mentioned for CLS. All this commands will be in 2 categories: MSX-DOS Commands (for MSX-DOS2) and MSX-DOS Extensions (for MSX-DOS 1), at least it's what I propose to the wiki.

I think it would be important to recognize what commands are inside COMMAND2.COM and what commands have separate .COM files in order for user to know what files he needs to copy on his disk to do a certain task. This means that I would suggest there would be rather categories like "COMMAND2.COM internal commands" and "Official programs delivered on MSX-DOS2 disk" or something similar like that (And naturally same kind of separation for MSX-DOS1.x)

Maybe three categories then:

"MSX-DOS Commands' with only the internal commands of COMMAND.COM and COMMAND2.COM

"MSX-DOS 1 Extensions" with the external commands for DOS 1

"MSX-DOS 2 Extensions" with the external commands for DOS 2

Yes, something like that... Personally I think "MSX-DOS 2 Extension" brings something like Nextor or Memman to my mind, but I can see your goal to have a bit similar naming standard as with BASIC... How ever I think here it is more like misleading and therefore I would like to rather call them something like "MSX-DOS external commands" or "MSX-DOS external programs" (vs. MSX-DOS embedded commands)

Let me rephrase...

If we have disk full of BASIC programs, we don't call them BASIC extensions, but BASIC programs.
Similar way if we have disk full of DOS programs we should not call them DOS extensions, because they run on the OS.
They do not extend the OS like ie. mentioned Nextor or Memman does by adding new functionality that other programs running on the OS can use.

Ehmmm... Extensions makes think to CALL or CMD, I understand the problem.

So it will be:

- MSX-DOS Internal Commands
- MSX-DOS 1 External Commands
- MSX-DOS 2 External Commands

Rderooy: please WAIT that I create these pages ... Too fast acting leads to waste of time!

I have no interest in getting into an edit war, so go right ahead. The page had not been touched for 2 years, and now that I added some stuff there is interest suddenly.

Because i proceed step by step

Explaining the commands that are common to DOS1 and DOS2 is the first step.
