This is really very interesting. Thank you for the tip! Smile

About this page: https://www.msx.org/wiki/Daewoo_DLP-01

sd_snatcher: According the screenshots I've seen on a Korean site, the firmware seems for me an adaptation of the Sanyo product for Korea, what I say in the page:

"It's actually the same product as the Sanyo MLP-01 and has been manufactured by Sanyo, as the PCB clearly indicates it. The HAL/Sanyo copyright has been replaced by a Daewoo copyright in the firmware and the Japanese texts have been translated in English."

The ROM is of course different, but NOT the firmware. Or maybe the size of the Daewoo ROM is not 8kB, but 16kB. My original text was indeed precising the ROM size:
" The unit includes a 8kB ROM with a drawing program ({{GENMSX|5634|Lightpen Graphics}}) and new MSX-BASIC instructions - see [[Expander BASIC]]. "

Do you have a dump of this ROM?

No, but I have a Sanyo MLP-001. And the drawing program on the Daewoo DLP-01 shown here is very different from the Lightpen Graphics that comes with the MLP-001. We can't even assume that the DLP-01 has the BASIC extensions, since they were part of the Lightpen Graphics.

I'm trying to upload a screenshot of the Lightpen Graphics main screen to Generation MSX, but sadly it seems to be broken today.

Ehmm ... the Korean product has the same name, what adds to the confusion. Indeed, we are not sure about the BASIC extensions.

The Expander BASIC article is also incorrectly stating that the DLP-01 has the same utility than the MLP-01/MLP-001, but it doesn't.

BTW, it would be nice if the article could also have a better description of the Expander BASIC commands syntax. I tried to use them, but only got syntax errors. (I don't have the manual for this device)

Fixed.

It's in my projects to create pages with these instructions (but there are other priorities).

The manual can be found on the net: https://archive.org/details/Sanyo_MLP001

Thanks for the tip about the manual!

I had the suspicion that the Lightpen Graphics was just a variation of HAL's Eddy II image editor, and by comparing both ROMs this seems to be true. Even half of the Expander BASIC commands are also present on Eddy II BASIC.

Eddy II seems to have had many OEM variations and newer incarnations later, like Print Lab.

Later HAL released Graphic Studio Proand its OEM version Sony Graphics Editor, but I'm not sure if they're related to Eddy II.

Thanks! Now I just have to find a ROM dump.

@sd_snatcher perhaps you can add your screenshot to the wiki page for now?
