hello,

the drive does not read the disks proper.
i can not format the disks, only the half of the disk will be shown.

does anyone now if a pc drive can be transformed to this msx.
i have some pc drives in mij amiga's with a changed print, will they also work in the msx ?

i have seen phillips msx conversions with pc drives but i have also read that that will not work in the sony ?

It should be possible to replace it with a PC drive that is or has been made MSX compatible, see this page.

You can always contact Bas Kornalijnslijper if he has such a drive (or if the amiga drives are compatible.

It is possible. Philips 8250 and newer use the exact same drive.

The site has just been taken down last week. Search it in the wayback machine.

When I was fixing my Sony there was a problem using the PC drive. The board expects the READY signal from the drive and only then goes on with read/write operations. I thought my controller chip was a toast, but when I connected the original drive everything worked. So I do recommend to get the original drive from Bas. He has plenty.
