Just got myself a Casio QD-7 quick disk because somehow I like all those retro storage mechanisms Smile .

After formatting a prerecorded Quick Disk (could not find any blank ones) it still seems to be working. Only thing is...it is quite noisy. Loading, saving and formatting all give the same mechanical noise pattern. Something like TUK.....TUK TUK TUK. Is this normal?

Out of curiosity, what was on the disk before you formatted it? Very few MSX titles were ever released on QD.

That youtube video has nothing to do with the mechanical noise that a QD makes, try this one instead.
I have never used a QD, but I own a FDS (same mechanism as a QD): Every time the head starts a new operation, has to reach the mechanical limit, so you constantly hear the TUK TUK noises.

Thx. Hmm, okay the drive on that video makes less noise then mine. It is probably a bit worn mechanically.
