As I understand it, the "CALL FDISK" (or "_FDISK") facilities are Nextor kernel features, which should be available as soon as you boot the thing -with the cartridge inserted.

If it doesn't work, It means that Nextor itself failed to initialize.

(have misread your initial message, wanted to hint at the Memory Mapper switches, but you did this. Cannot delete my message. Sorry for the noise)

The EPROM chip could have failed so Nextor is not initializing. This certridge should be repaired by a qualified electronics repairman. Or you can sell the broken cartridge and buy a new one instead. Or even better - buy Carnivore or MFR.

I would send it back for repair to the manufacturer, unless it was something I could easily fix myself.

i *think* the issue is the Casio MX10. According to msx wiki the MX10 has only got 16k of RAM, do you have a RAM expansion on it? When at the recent UK Computer fair in Cambridge, we tried a Carnivore 2 on a Pioneer 32k PX10, which did not boot into Disk Basic, however, it booted ok on a Toshiba 64k HX10. Where is your location jdgabbard?

https://www.msx.org/wiki/Casio_MX-10

The wiki page states "The pins SW1, SW2, -12V and +12V of the cartridge connector are not connected. In general, MSX systems without a protection switch have pins SW1 and SW2 connected to GND. A few rare cartridges use SW1 and SW2 as GND and some cartridges require the -/+12V rails, such as the FM-PAC."

Maybe the none standard cartridge connection maybe an issue? I do not know if the SD Card needs the +/- 12v rails?

Does your VG8000 have the +/-12v connection? The slot layout appears to be the same according to Wiki

The SD-Mapper doesn't use the 12V lines. I had a Casio MX10 and the cartridge worked OK with it.
