Ivan, what does this mean? Im sure the first payment has been chosen so production can start from this money. Does it mean 400 pre orders are not enough? Or does this mean people have pre ordered but then didn't pay for their pre order? Is that even possible?

The limit date to make both the pre-order (i.e. to fill the form on the MSXVR website) and first payment (reservation) is the 1st of October. There are people that have pre-ordered the MSXVR but haven't paid yet (I include myself :P but I will transfer the money before that date!).

According to Alberto it is likely that the pre-order and reservation period will be extended throughout October. This extension does not compromise the delivery date of the computer (starting the beginning of February 2020).

As I wrote before Alberto stated that production is 100% guaranteed which probably means that by now enough people have paid to start buying the necessary components to build the computers.

To be honest I am impressed with that figure (400 units pre-ordered). It is going to be the most sold MSX compliant machine since the 1chipMSX (and that was many moons ago, in 2006).

If there are 400 buyers of MsxVR computers, also programmers will do games for that.

Now you can watch it with subtitles

Spanish auto-generated subtitles which you can auto translate to English which is quite a mess.
If they want a bigger audience and more sales, they will have to realise that the biggest part of the world doesn't speak/read Spanish.

I totally understand the frustration, but have in mind that this was no promotional video by the MSXVR team or anything, it's just a Spanish MSX channel that invited Alberto for an interview. So, it's not anything that the MSXVR team has prepared themselves. I'm sure he would be happy to take an interview on an English speaking channel if they invited him Smile

+1 for the brown Cherry MX switches option. They are less noisy / clicky and more convenient for typewriting. I'm glad they considered this option.

Also, this will be the ultimate development MSX machine thanks to accessing real hardware in real time.

Thanks Alberto and all the team!!!

Tough choice if at a later stage we are given the option to choose between these two types of Cherry MX switches:

  • Cherry MX Brown: introduced in 1994, tactile and non-clicky switch. Great multi-purpose switch with good balance for gaming and typing
  • Cherry MX Blue: more modern, introduced in 2007, tactile and clicky switch. Loudest of all of them and more suitable for typing (developers), great for confirming that you have pressed a key

Both are equally good.

A big hello to everyone,

The MSXVR team is happy to announce that the production of your home computer will finally commence. So all very exciting, production is about to start.

Even though the minimum number we had hoped for has not been reached , we have decided to go ahead with production as there are many of you like us that want to see this project materialize.
So, we now move to the first stage which is the creation of the injection molds for the case.

We have also decided to maintain the reserve period open for the whole month of October, so if you haven't reserved yours this could be your last chance. This lengthening of the reserve period does not affect those who have already ordered, your order has already started. We operate a strict first come first served order, in other words the first person to have formalised there order by payment will be the first to be served their new computer. We do ask for patience and comprehension in this matter and this will help us to serve you quicker.

Again we would like to thank you for all the support that we have been given and we will continue in our task of getting all the new computers to their eagerly awaiting owners.

We will continue to keep you up to date with the progress of the different stages in the project via emails and social networks.

A big thanks from the MSXVR Team.

+1 for MSX-style cursor keys. But speaking about keys: what about the keyboard layout (Spanish, Japanese, international...)? Will we be able to choose it?

The keyboard layout seems to be QUERTY without accent key (with dead key).

About case colors I think except for black and red they are not MSX like. Burgundy (YC-64, HB-55, etc), dark gray, sylver and off-white would have been appreciable. Royal blue like the Sony HB-11 would have been nice.
