I guess this is a long shot, but it may be worth the try...

I noticed recently that Metal Gear was played a lot on my site. More than logical. After inspecting the logs I found out that a specific browser from the game Second Life was linking directly to that game on my server. For the moment I have blocked these request on server level.

Does anyone maybe have an idea who is responsible for this? Any MSX-er here still active on that platform?

Just curious, was it overloading the server?? Otherwise more attention for MSX is always welcome, right? (for the record it wasn't me, never have been on second life)

No, it wasn't overloading the server, although it was generating about 50 visits a day at the moment (which generated around 5MByte of traffic per visit as it's downloading the emulator, the game and all the screenshots (about 300) on that page.
And I don't mind the traffic. What bothers me is that that person just did it without asking and might even be making money out of it. If it's playable for free in Second Life and the person would have asked, I would even have set up a page especially for this. And I am still willing to do so.

/edit/
I don't know if the link to the Metal Gear I provided is actually the one that is using my server. But it's the only Metal Gear Reference I could find using Google and without making a Secon Life account.

And guess what... It's indeed the person called Denzel7 from Origami Design. I've installed Second Life and found this:

and the machine isn't working anymore in Second Life. And I saw my own IP in the logs of my webserver, using the Second Life Browser. So this person is indeed making money on this...

And I guess this means that he is also using other websites for all the other game machines he is selling. Minimal amount of work, no investment, easy money...

Are there still people there? It looks terribly dated.

Well, this machine get activated about 50 times a day. You don't have to stand in front of it to get it running though... A few feet away will also work. And yes, there are still people in there.
I think I played it a few times around 2004/2005 or so? And also wasn't aware of it anymore untill checking those logs of my webserver.

Okay, didn’t even know you could make money that way in second life. That cabinet does look cool.

It actually does. Wouldn't it be cool to own a real one?

Well, I finally spoke with the creator today. He is using a new source for his Metal Gear Arcade machine, so... problem solved (I guess)...

Last month I "moved servers", which also means that the block I had put in place against the Second Life Browser was gone, and what do I see: Again a bunch of hits comming from the Second Life Browser. So instead of blocking (which just gave them a blank screen on the machine as you can see above) i've forwarded requests from that browser to a special page with a nice picture from one of "The File-Hunter ladies".
