That's really cool Smile Thank you for creating such a lovely piece of software for us lazy penguins Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

Same here in The Netherlands, my friend. That's why I mentioned it. Smile

Yeah, I guess we were pretty similar regarding the "rise of the micro computers and consoles".

You didn't have Intellivision in Finland? This console uses (bad) joypads.

Actually, yes, we had it, but in practice nobody (at least in my tiny village) had it in reality Smile We had those "pong clones", though, but I didn't count those having pads. My first ever "gaming device" at home was a MPT-03 = Emerson Arcadia clone, which had analogue "joysticks".

I gave up joysticks (1984/85) for most games because it was often more efficient,

I had never get used so well with gamepads because the directional controls, that requires more precision than the shots , are on the left side and I am right-handed.

I had access to good joysticks since we had an MSX at home, but in the end I preferred using the keyboard for fast games like Aleste 2. So, basically for all games...

No, no, this is with a (good) joypad, it's more precise and faster. Try to go until the end of Graduis 2/3 or Salamander with a joystick almost everytime with only one life and in 60Hz. Smile

More seriously, everyone has their habits, experiences and preferences. We will never agree the choice of others because it depends on a lot of parameters. It also depends on the tested material, type of games played and our physiognomy. For example, I don't like the cross on Sony controllers at all. The space in the middle hurts the fingers when long playing. The cross on Wii controllers is not precise diagonally. I love the Super Famicom/NES joypads (not chinese clones by cons). Sega Genesis/Megadrive joypad is not bad too.

I agree with you that gamepads (joypads) are more precise than joysticks. What I meant to say is that the maneuvering of the ship/character requires more precision than the pressing of the fire buttons, and I would play better with a "mirrored" gamepad
that allowed me to maneuver with the right thumb and shoot with the leflt. And indeed, this is very personal!!! Big smile
