Yes, it is me, thank you.
👍
Oh, I checked PAL Metal Gear MSX, speed of what I see in YT footage seems to match that. Got used to NTSC ('original') speed.
Now let's get that Amiga emu going...
@gdx: have you tried vAmiga? (wut, another hoffman(n)?? :D)
- upd: I checked in FS-UAE now, so yes, enabling NTSC in emu, or setting to 60Hz in game options makes it run like MSX NTSC (I actually (loosely) timed running from left to right.. :murdock:) Regardless, MSX music will always play at NTSC speed.
@h0ffman: perhaps an idea to point ppl to the fact that the original game was a JP production, and runs slower on a PAL machine / 50Hz (though in your conversion music plays the same) ?
H0ffman, very nice work. As a fan of your work on Amiga I'm happy to see you involved with MSX stuff (again).
Regarding the Transceiver description in the README: note that it can also actively pickup on a transmission when (simply) scanning via left & right. (And using this, you might pick up on something early in the game..) (and that would probably solve a certain mystery for some ppl )
Note that there's a forgotten (I bet most people don't even know about it) Japanese manual translation courtesy of Takamichi (very much appreciated btw). See 'Manual' on his Metal Gear Remix page.
Another request/suggestion: also enable the N key (like the original). It's the same as M. E.g. for me it's easier to reach.
Oh dam, I didn't know that existed!!! Looks like I need to update mine a bit
The music runs at ntsc speed because as a musician I appreciate it when my music is played as intended. Also the way the interrupts work made sure the music was always super stable.
Might add some notes to the readme about original game speed.
H0ffman, very nice work. As a fan of your work on Amiga I'm happy to see you involved with MSX stuff (again).
off-topic:
Any news ABOUT the N.O.P. projects?
@erpirao: posting that question here/now is kinda inappropriate I guess..
On topic. I played a bit, 23 things
* "Carboard Box? Is it moving?"
I'm pretty sure the Remix translation says: are they moving (as in moving places);
* Rank up sfx is way too underwhelming. It's kind of a happening on MSX (and your rank is a pretty important/essential part/thing..);
* Kinda missing the radio freq. pitch sound (though the muted bgm & crackling sound is cool )
(oh, and did you see/get the N-key thing? )
Any news ABOUT the N.O.P. projects?
Working on it. But not posting on it, sorry. You can keep track at https://nopmsx.nl/unreleased-production-2021
So I'm calling Diane (Steve) during Shoot Gunner's fight... Author's liberties at work there? 😂
And a bug report: punching (in the air) in the room at the start with the sleepy guard alerts him.
Today I tried it, maaan that is amazing smooth gameplay and sounds ( made me want to stream it on my channel )
Thank you Hoffman for this. Also my thanks goes to Manuel Pazos & anyone helping this great community in his/her own way.
