Awesome. Hope you can pull this off. Curious to know if someone in Europe will stand up to produce these. I would definitely get one.
Since I can't solder them myself, there's not a lot I can do right now. But if a trusted party is involved, I may consider helping the funding of the shipment.
Yes. I just got confirmation that the chips are available.
I got a big distributor in Japan with a few sealed boxes, 30 USD FOB per unit with minimum of 240 units. They cannot split the shipment and only send via DHL with pre-paid taxes, unfortunately.
Also got another vendor in China selling up to 50 units, 45 USD FOB per unit.
What I'm trying now is to get my traditional supplier in China to buy the 240 units from Japan and send me via another way than DHL. Via DHL, which is the only option from Japan to Brazil, taxes will be automatically charged. And that adds 50% import tax + 60% local state tax, bringing the cost per chip to something around 70USD.
If my supplier agrees to buy the package (of course charging something) I may get those chips to manufacture cartridges. The ideal situation would be sending half of those (~120) to Europe so you guys can get someone building and sending cartridges within the EU.
I'll update you all with new developments...
Hmm... Well, I'm in Europe, what are the costs and such, associated with this? I might be interested in assembling some cartridges btw, if I could get some V9990's and an MSX2+ computer as a reward! ^^ Ahem. I totally need some way to test this darn cartridge, now that I've finished my draft of the design.
I should probably mention that I work for an embedded electronics solution-provider here in northern Europe, and I should be able to use our electronics-lab to assemble some boards after-hours.
Hi Cristiano, how can I have one TRH9000 or TRH9000s for me? There are shops or I think to build it via PCBWAY, why are you not sharing the project on PCBWay? I can upload the Gerbers but no idea on how to get the BOM uploaded to be mounted by PCBway. I cannot know how to solder smd or to make a 4 layer pcb at home :-) and it is not my business. Thanks for your time and infos.
Andrea
I’m still trying to get my hands on additional v9990 chips. I’ll let you all know if I manage to get them with a reasonable price.
Hello fellow MSX enthusiasts, I am excited to share some fantastic news with you all!
The TRH9000 initiative is making great strides in expanding the availability of V9990-based hardware and software. Today, I have acquired a box of V9990 chips and am thrilled to announce that I will soon be manufacturing and selling TRH9000 cartridges!
Before I go any further, I want to clarify that my intention here is not to make a profit from this endeavor. Rather, I aim to cover the costs involved and support new MSX projects. My primary goal is to encourage more people to use these cartridges and foster the development of software for them. It's all about building a thriving community and pushing the boundaries of MSX.
To give you an idea of what to expect, here's the chronogram for production: I will have 5 cartridges ready by the end of this week (PCBs and components I have in stock), then I will produce an additional sixty cartridges by the beginning of August, with more to come thereafter.
I want to emphasize that no payments are required upfront. I have personally invested my own money to acquire the chips, as a contribution to the community. My aim is to secure more funds for future MSX projects and ensure that everyone has an opportunity to experience the TRH9000/V9990.
If you are as excited as I am and want to be among the first to get your hands on a TRH9000 cartridge, I invite you to join the waiting list.
By putting your name down, you will receive priority access when the cartridges become available. Simply visit the [TRH9000 Waiting List](https://theretrohacker.com/trh9000-waiting-list/) and submit your details.
Please keep in mind that the primary goal here is to create a vibrant community and encourage software development for the V9990 chip. Therefore, I kindly ask that if you do acquire a cartridge, you actively contribute to the MSX ecosystem by creating and sharing your projects, tutorials, and insights.
Thank you all for your support and enthusiasm. Let's make the TRH9000 initiative a resounding success and take the MSX community to new heights!
Here is some "retro porn video" for your delight... sorry for the video quality! Subscribe to the channel so you can get further updates there as well.
Awesome news! I have put my name on the list!
It's great to see that your project has come to fruition.
Could you please tell us which features of the V9990 your cartridge does or does not support (especially in terms of display modes)?
Fantastic news! I have watching the progress for some time.

Problem is getting the V9990. Sellers like to sell a whole box. Maybe a group buy.
That's kind of what I meant. Though in the meantime crisag has acquired a whole box to himself.
