Hello ladies and gentlemen, put on your kaki blouses and join poke on his wild safari through the uncharted territories
of MB ! Many questions will be asked, and you'll probably all get devoured by lions... or not...

Ok, so shoot ! ( get it? since it's a safari? har har Sad )

first... how do I get samples from my pc converted to the music module, without sampling ?
How should they be saved, in what file format etc.

ps. my jeep has a flat tire, and I don't even have a driver's license

"Raw" should be good (no additional data like loop position etc.).

Also try .voc or .wav files IIRC.

Mmm, seems I can only choose to load samplekits in moonblaster, I don't see something separate
for loading just 1 sample. And I presume these samplekits are made in MB after you have a bunch of samples
already ? but how to get them in ?
Also, what should be used to run those apps nyyrikki ?

[F-3] brings you to the samplemenu.

From there, manage loose sample files with [F-5].

aaaaaah ! merci bien mr. seed ^_^
is it also possible to save your own fm voices ?
I see they are saved with every song, but it would
be convenient if they can be used in other songs as well.

Yeah, same story:

[F-4] = voice menu.

Then use [F-5] again for specified file options.
You can load & save loose "own voices" and also complete voice banks (comparable to a samplekit).

You're welcome!

and on another note, it doesn't seem to recognize the wav, adpcm or voc files.
Should they be a specific frequency or mono/stereo 8/16 bits ?
interesting, I couldn't have ever guessed there was a submenu in both Smile
that saves a lot of frustration ^_^

IIRC only mono, but both 8 & 16 bit is possible.

[edit] Not 100% sure about the 16-bit...
Try it.

I think DemonSeed has bad memory or then there is something that I just really don't know about MoonBlaster.

AFAIK MoonBlaster can understand Samplekits (.MBK) and individual samples (.MBS) The .MBS sample file format is direct dump of sample from MSX-Audio memory. MSX-Audio keeps the sample in memory in custom 4bit ADPCM-format that is not compatible with modern standards.

To convert sample from PC you need to do following:
- Save the sample in RAW unsigned 8bit mono format with name <filename>.PCM
- Copy the file to MSX
- From MSX-DOS run PCM2ADP <filename> (Look the first link I posted earlyer)
- Type: REN <filename>.ADP <filename>.MBS

Now you can load the sample in MoonBlaster. Standard MSX-Audio has 32KB of sample memory, so you can convert max 64KB PCM-sample.

Hmmm... I never used that toolie, but I did use to make sample kits in MoonBlaster. For the life of me, I don't remember how, tho.

Then again, maybe I was just lazy and used the MusMod sampler. At least I did that for Bombaman Wink
