Toni, sorry I cannot help, it is a HUGE project and my spare time (not a lot) is overbooked by other activities.
At this speed MOAM will take ages...

Nice project! why don't make it MSX compatible instead of planning a MSX2 version?

YEAH!!!! Let's do that!!!!! Why not make it with just the ASCII characters and use PSG music (feel the sarcasm).

Why do we only try to make downgrades versions of great games if we have the tools and hardware to match the original or even make it better? Is it some kind of purism I don't understandQuestion

Nice SCC arrangement, but I prefer to use FM-PAC instead. Wink I played this on my Amiga at early nineties, and so that nicely done SCC sounds somewhat very dull and flat compared to Amiga music.... and besides, Turrican is NOT Konami game! Wink Please use FM-PAC! Smile

Hmmmm.... maybe this is the first time that I am saying something like this.... maybe some MSX-1 lovers may curse me because of this, but I am gonna say this aloud.

Please make Turrican for GFX9000! Smile No, I don´t have such thing, but I think GFX9000 should have at least one new game. Smile Amiga 500 --> GFX9000 port could be that game. Smile And besides, someone can always port Spectrum version to MSX-1 and give it new screen2 title screen + some nice little extras. Smile

Good luck with that... Turrican is pretty fast on Spectrum, to just "convert it" to MSX, would be a challenge even bigger than converting GnG... and the speed on MSX won't be the same.

I would love a plain spec->MSX conversion, since this game doesn't even look like a spectrum one! (No color spill, very colorfull character and enemies... almost as colorfull as AMC)

The only way to achieve the same spectrum speed, would be a total rewrite, and for a massive game like this one, It will be pretty hard and take a pretty good ammount of time.

In case of a rewrite, I may prefer a completely new game btw. If you are able to code Turrican, then why not make a new game? A new game would be much more of a surprise, the developers are in complete control of how complex the gfx and music should be. It all sounds a bit like "proving that it's possible, for sake of proving things", which can be a goal of course, but it's imho less fun than inventing a completely new game/world/story.

Well, this game is not that hard to code for MSX (as it is concepted for the zx spectrum). I think the bigger challenge here is to make a whole stage fit uncompressed in RAM (they are huge), or simply store them raw inside a big megarom not to get higher RAM requirements. But well, making it for bigger MSXs reduces the trouble... Tongue Go on, make it gfx9000!!! LOL!

Regarding your latter comment: making it for higher standards. How does using a gfx9000 reduce the amount of memory needed to store the levelmap?

Yes, let's make it for PC, large amounts of memory, lots of colors and very fast VRAM access. Why downgrade it to an old, slow, MSX2?

I agree. I also prefer to see (and to code) new games, rather than rewriting existing games.
