As the title suggests, when I boot up my CX5M, and type in "call music" or "call fmv" (I do have the cartridge inserted) it throws up "syntax error"

No idea why it's doing this, and wondering if anyone could shed some light on this.

Thanks!

PS - I have the SFG-05 installed, and could previously get to the "music" and voicing programs, but I don't remember if I was using the same commands, I want to say I was using some kind of other weird command, but it's been so long!

Maybe you should try to clean SFG-05 connector?

I tried to unscrew the module from the bottom of the machine, but I just got the plate off and then wigged out at the circuit board. Do I just gank it out and clean the connector with alcohol? Sorry I'm kind of a complete n00b at this kind of thing.

Thanks for the reply!

I have not actually seen CX5M, so I'm propably not best person to tell what to do...

I THINK that there is one big screw in middle of SFG-05 that needs to be opened first. Then the module should come out simply by pulling it towards MIDI connectors. Circuit board should not be visible at any time.

Cleaning with alcohol sounds like a good plan, but maybe just reinserting it will do the trick.

If this does not work, then please run this program:

1 DEFINTA-Z:D$="3E8F2AF8F7CD0C006F260022F8F7C9"
2 AD=&HC000:DEFUSR=AD:FORI=0TO14:POKEAD+I,VAL("&H"+MID$(D$,I*2+1,2)):NEXT
3 FOR I=&H4000 TO &H407F:IF(IAND7)=0THENPRINT:PRINTHEX$(I);":";
4 PRINTRIGHT$("0"+HEX$(USR(I)),2);" ";:NEXT

and post few first lines of the output here. It will help us to undestand, what is going wrong...

Thanks, great info! Will post later on tonight (no internet at home Sad )

Thanks again, if I get this running, I'm going to record a CX5M track to commemorate your help!

"Syntax error" in other words: "Hi, what?! I can't run this, you made a typo somewhere". Smile
(NYYRIKKI's program is error free)

Well, I made sure to print it out using a font that displays 0's and O's differently, as well as giving lots of space for "spaces" and I also triple checked things after typing it all out.

I'll try again though, thanks Smile

That was probably it, or I'm just even worse at spellchecking than I am at typing Eek!

It looks like D4 line is disconnected...

Check expetially carefully PIN number 48 in the 60 pin SFG-05 connector and try to clean it.

(Please note: Even pin numbers are on one side and odd pin numbers are on other side)
