Did you get any original game from Brazil?
Brazil is the fifth country in size (probably the fifth great population too) and there should be enough demand for new software, even if the MSX standard is old technology (easy to program) there should be some persons able to handle the tasks. How many original titles do you know?

One of the few games that I know is Avenida Paulista.
Another game title is Jogo do Executivo.
Apart from those two games, is there any other interesting game that you knew about?

Running Naked in a Field of Flowers

Memphis
Iconia
Fracta
O Conde de Montecristo
Alcatraz

We had some nice adventure games. And sorry, but Brazilian action games for MSX sucked (Zorax). Sad

We can list also:

Cave Flight
Bumerangue
Maze Up

These games were distributed in tape by Engesoft and haven't been dumped yet.

Also, there's the already "classic but never played" Palhada City. Everybody knows about this game, but no one saw it.
Probably a vaporware.

Text adventures like Star Trek and Platoon are brazilian, as far as I know.

As a service to our non-Portuguese MRC readers, I tried to translate the review from Baú de Jogos... Wink

"Here is the most magnificent national action game produced for the MSX. Or maybe the most magnificent national action game produced for any system.

While the shameless and stoned Spanishes had to keep them satisfied with deliriums in form of arcades in the Game OVO <Translation Note: OVO in Portuguese could be EGG, or a slang for testicle>, oops, I mean, Game Over and Army Moves, or with adventures in filmation in the style of Abadia del Crimem, we had this work of INTERNATIONAL PROJECTION where a naked dude, drawn in an artistic fashion, runs around with a stiff <vulgar word for penis>, shooting RED DOTS, that instead of it seems, represent ejaculation. Maybe he has prostate cancer.

But, like this: your goal is to control the Pornoman´s big <another vulgar word for penis> and shoot the two DANGEROUS FOES that will try to prevent him to reach the woman: bees eager to sting your <head?>, which is something that I even understand, since the guy is running naked in a road full of delicate flowes, and FLYING SCISSORS COMING FROM NOWHERE that wan´t to cut off your mast. I won´t waste my time trying to unravel the origin of the winged scissors, because I have to warn you that once in a while a third and even more lethal opponent appears: a small flying <Insert the most vulgar word for penis in your language here> comes at lightning speed at the hero´s back in order to violently <very vulgar word for SODOMIZE> him, because it´s envious from the size of your <another vulgar word for penis>. Or perhaps due to pure fagginess. In these difficult times, you must make him release a powerful fart to overthrow the dick of evil.

Action is relentless and not only there are fantastic graphics, but the game has 4 (four) perfectly digitalized sentences: "S.O.B.!", said when the scissors cut off your <vulgar word for penis>, "<Vulgar word for sperm, used like in English interjection "F*CK">!" when he receives some in his <vulgar word for ANUS>, "Ouch, ouch, ouch!" when a bee pricks his prick and "Woohoo!" when at the end of the adventure, he faces the woman. At his moment a strange <intercourse> will take place when she tries to keep her balance and jumps over the super Pornoman´s pole, unable to correctly fit it into her <insert the most ridiculous and vulgar word for vagina from your language here>. At this moment, instead of what it may seem, it won´t do any good to wiggle the joystick or even try to interact, it doesn´t matter what you do, the game really finishes in this way, that´s the end. I cried a lot when I was a jid thnking that I did not achieve to f*ck the woman correctly and because of that I did not clear the stage, but honestly it´s just made to look and JACK OFF. And, dude, if you can jack off with this I have to recognize your valour.

The only flaw in this work of art is that it´s too much short. Of course I am joking, or else I´d had to comment on controls and the whole game. The opening song is ripped from Bokosuka Wars and the logo is brilliant, featuring even 3 small ejaculating <vulgar word penises>, IT´S WORTH DONALDING and running in a real MSX, the only place where it can be trully appreciated. PURE ART."

For adventure games, there is the Amazônia. It is a nice text adventure released here in Brazil!

For action game, there is the IronStar.
IronStar

Another source for action games were in the paper publications. This was one of the aspects from microcomputers that I had more appreciation in the past!
In my opinion the action games published on paper books are not that bad, except that most of them are just clones of popular games. Sure, some translations of books from foreign countries could be better in some aspects. After all, the old (now outdated) reserve of the Brazilian market was only for tape, cassette, disc and cartridge games (not including books with BASIC and ASSEMBLY lists) ...

You're welcome, Manuel. It's always a pleasure to show samples of Brazilian literacy to other countries. Wink

Palhada City, I believe that it was mentioned into some catalogue of games. Some spare information about this game was published into catalogues and magazines. Sure that since most of the games only works into *PORT* based disk-drivers do now help much. Since only a few software (like BrMSX) would be able to run the games ...

Into The MSX Files there seems to be a screen shot of the "game title".
