are you given a choice like double sided or single sided ?
is b drive a real drive or the same physical as a: ?
are you doing this in DOS or basic ?
Name of the mahcine ? drive is internal ?

sorry i didnt put the details in my message
its a nms 8255 double drive so 2 real ones internal.
i only run basic on it and i thought that maybe all my 720k disk are not that good anymore after all these years, because some of them work, others dont.

if i use dos on my msx will that have any positive effect on running a disk?
i never used dos on it, and cant find a working disk with dos on either in my old collection, is there a legal way to get it?

regards

wolter

i think if you get an emulator , whatever , it comes with disk images that you can use in the emulator, like disk image on a: drive an real pc drive on b: , and you can copy files.
If your pc has a real disk drive maybe you can test your disk on it before formatting .

On legal side i believe EVERY msx with disk drive has been sold with MSX-DOS on a compagnion disk.
So since you have that kind of msx , i am pretty sure you somehow already got/paid the 'msx dos license",
if it ever existed and still have any signification today ...

apparently only your b: drive does not works , you may try to swap them and use a: only.

thanks for the reply

I still had some disk left from my old msx witch is gone for many years now, got a new one on internet.
none off them had msx-dos on it sadly.
the b: drive is also working, that one is tested as well.

i tried to make a disk with disk manager using an old 720k disk and it works on my msxBig smile
but if i use another disk and try to copy the exact same disk image its not.
best thing to do is get my hands on some new 720 or 1.44 disks i think?

this problem with bad parameters not seems to be the disk drive to me

lets face it FD are things of the past !
was that disk with a game or some stuff of yours you wanted to recover ?
are you using 1.44 fd ? do you know you must put a strap on the hole for them ?

wollie: if you come to the MSX fair in Nijmegen, I can give you some DD disks for free.
