Whoever has been having trouble installing fMSX on rooted Android devices, this limitation should be gone now. Please, see if you can install fMSX from the Android Market and report here if there are still probems.
It's working fine. Is it possible to increase keyboard size?
no problems anymore here. I can see both versions of fMSX, and Speccy Deluxe.

Nope, there are actually several different sizes, but the current size is chosen to let you also access the joypad.
Hello, All!
Tonight, I have released a significant update to fMSX for Android:
fMSX (free and nag-free versions):
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fms.fmsx
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.fms.fmsx.deluxe
The main addition is the hardware-accelerated video renderer that should be significantly faster than the traditional software renderer. The new experimental renderer uses OpenGLES to scale video. You can enable it from "Settings -> Video -> Hardware Acceleration". Please, test the new renderer and email me or post here about your experience.
FULL CHANGE LIST:
- Added experimental hardware-accelerated video option (PLEASE TEST).
- Added x4 scaling factor, for 1280x800 and larger screens.
- Audio no longer skips and stutters when exiting emulation.
- Enabled ability to press several virtual buttons at once.
- Added layout editor for the virtual joystick.
- Enabled "Move to SD Card" feature.
- Added my apps to Sony Xperia Game Launcher.
- Fixed "Quit" option in the "Advanced" menu.
- Relaxed license check policies.
So far the new version is not available for download. When you go to the Play Store, you can only see version from May.13.2012...

May want to give it a few hours: the Store takes a bit of time to make it available everywhere.
It shows up here;
thank you for the new version.
I also have a new phone so it should be interesting to test.
Got it! Thank you for the new version.
Hardware acceleration freezing very fast. White screen and not respond to anything. Even after re-start. You can hear music playing sometimes. Switching to software emulation fixes the issue and you can play again. But speed with HW acceleration is better compare to software rendering. I got 57-58fps, but enemy sprites (in Vampire Killer) moving way faster then they should. Looks like they off VSYNC. At the same time players sprite is moving at reasonable speed.
Sound emulation IMHO is very weak compare to MSX.EMU...
A bit problematic on my new phone (HTC One X)
-emulator runs slow overall (it used to be fast on my old phone)
-hardware accelerated mode does not give a picture at all
mind, there's quite a bit of software not compatible with the One X, so I wouldn't be too concerned about that. I think HTC needs to do some work there themselves
